Saturday morning, I woke up at 6, ate breakfast, and was ready to be out the door by 7. Then I walked out the door and realized it was raining. Winter rain sucks in the first place, but winter rain for 20 miles sounded miserable. I came back inside and waffled for a few minutes considering running on the treadmill. Then I realized that the only thing worse than running 20 miles in the rain was running 20 miles on the treadmill. So, I hit the road.
The rain stopped after the first hour, but I was already too far gone in the chafing department. Otherwise, my run was great. It seemed like every time I was struggling or getting tired, something would happen to revive me. 12.5 miles in, I ran into some people from my old running group and ran with them for a few minutes. Then at about mile 15, my podcast switched from boring me to tears to being hilarious. To top it all off, after I finished the run, I didn't succumb to teeth-chattering numbness and felt good for most of the day. I ran in compression shorts and compression socks and after my shower switched to new pairs of both, so that could be part of it, too.
Post run, I ate more pizza and a cup of Click coffee for a caffeine and protein boost. Then Mike and I headed out to spend way too much money on a new oven. As ours is officially caput, it was a necessary expense, but that doesn't make me feel any better about spending it. Luckily, they deliver quickly, so we should be able to enjoy a hot, non-crockpot dinner by Tuesday night. Woohoo!
I followed up the oven excitement with a hair appointment. My hair stylist told me she was sorry for making me look so beautiful, but she really is a miracle worker.

I ended the night with some serious rehydration in the form of prosecco while watching trashy tv.
Sadly, my wild Saturday set me up for disaster on Sunday. I was completely exhausted, to the point that I couldn't stand during all of the necessary times during church. I blame this more on muscle fatigue than overall tiredness. Then, after I came home, I did a little work (Mike was gone watching football with friends) and then napped on and off while watching episodes of Alias. You can be jealous of my life, it's ok.
I'm looking forward to this week's lower mileage.
How was your weekend?
