Three Things Thursday

1. Yesterday, I ran for two hours and eleven minutes on the treadmill.

While it wasn't all mind-numbingly terrible (I watched three exciting episodes of Alias), it was bad enough to make me dread this weekend's 18 miler and even my easy 6 miles either today or tomorrow. I still can't decide what is worse, though, freezing weather or the treadmill. I'll probably stick with the treadmill, though, just so I don't have to spend the hours following my run trying unsuccessfully to warm back up.

2. Bungee's exercise is taking a hit, obviously, so I got the cold shoulder from her yesterday. Today, I'm contemplating making her run wind sprints in the the basement OR seeing if I can teach her to walk on the treadmill without just sitting down and flying off the back (like she usually does). Either way, I promise there will be video.

3. I've decided to go back to the chiropractor today. I feel fine, and haven't had any real pains this training cycle. I think the two rest days on top of the fact that I'm actually following a training plan really help with that. At the same time, I'm getting into the toughest part of the training, so it's better to be prepared. Also, I really like going to the chiropractor if only to get my back adjusted.

I can either run 6 miles today and take tomorrow off before Saturday's 18 miler or take today off and run 6 on Friday. What would you do?

  1. Does it count as "three" things if every one of those has to do with running?

  2. I wish I could come walk Bungee for you because I would totally brave the subzero temperatures to have some quality doggy time. I have serious doggy fever lately and spend all my free time looking at pictures of puppies.

  3. I am truly impressed, I ran for an hour and 19 minutes and it was tough! That exact debate of treadmill vs cold describes my entire Tuesday night. Treadmill won for the same reason - I had to leave early for work and really didn't feel like spending the first four hours shivering uncontrollably.

I'm taking today off - just do that since I'm doing it!

  4. I would go ahead and do it today to have a rest day before your long run. 2 hours on a treadmill?? That's crazy!! I'm happy that you can do it!! I can last about 30-40 minutes MAX!!! Lol!! I would rather bundle up and go outside. Good luck on your long run!

  5. Take tomorrow off!!!

How in the world did you manage two hours on the treadmill? You have the focus friend! I say that I probably could but I always end up getting a sore spot in my shoulder blade. I think it's because my running form is crap on the treadmill :)

  6. I usually take the day off before the longer run, so I would run today.

Looking forward to the Bungee video!

  8. Aye, I'd get it out of the way and do it today! Although it's 9:30 in Alaska so if you haven't done it yet, I doubt it will happen... I agree with everyone else, dog on treadmill video would be amazing.
