a little more optimistic

I may have jumped to conclusions at the beginning of this week thinking that all of my runs would have to be inside. The snow is slowly melting, so today I'm going to go for an exploratory outside run to see if my long run this weekend is feasible. Unfortunately, it's supposed to start snowing at "daybreak" on Saturday, so I might end up having to do half of it inside. Then again, if the first half is anywhere near as good as last week's, I won't mind doing 10 miles on the treadmill.

Yesterday, I had 14 miles on tap and knocked them all out on the treadmill. They felt really good and I even contemplated running 6 more miles so my 20 miler for the week would be done. Then I remembered I have a job and should actually do some work. So I called it good at 14 and became a productive member of society.

In other news, it's Valentine's Day! I care for two reasons and two reasons only:

1. It's A Good Day To Die Hard

Mike and I like to celebrate Christmas with the best Christmas movie ever (Die Hard), so why not celebrate Valentine's Day with John McClane, too?

2. Mike got me some freaking amazing presents. Don't worry, though, I couldn't actually wait until today to exchange presents, so we did it yesterday.

I wonder if they make Doctor Who pants. Or maybe a fez.

What's your workout today?

Are you doing anything exciting for Valentine's or the weekend?

  1. Love the shirt!! It was a toss up between the "build your own" sonic screwdriver kit, the Dr. Who Bathrobe or the Firefly authentic replica Malcolm Reynolds pistol. I went with the replica pistol.....

  2. You are such a dork. Are those compression Tardis socks? Would you pass out in happiness if such a thing existed?

  3. My dad is a shriner and actually owns a fez. He does not, however, have one of those sweet little cars.

  4. Glad the mill was kind to you! We're getting snow tonight then back to the deep freeze. Going out for BBQ tonight though, also no Dr. Who.

  5. Woke up at 5 to put icing on the kids heart shaped valentines cakes and then threw in the Bourne Identity to help me click off 4.5 miles. Thanks Redbox. I was supposed to finish The Mexican but the Bourne movies are more fun I think. Plus, it's a rental.

We're going to dinner at a local spot called the Grey Goose. Then, I haven't told me husband yet but hoped that he would come watch me swim for 45 minutes at the Y, which is 2 doors down from the Grey Goose! Happy Valentines Day to me!

  6. I am going to be that person and say I am in California. It is 70 and sunny. Hopefully the snow will be all melted by Saturday when I come back.

  7. I got Brent the Best of Bond soundtrack for Valentine's Day - almost as good as Die Hard :) You'll have to let me know how the movie is - we may be going to check it out this weekend.

  9. I've said it before... you are doing some SERIOUS mileage! I really wish I could run that much, but I think my shins would crack in half. I only started reading your blog recently. What race are you training for? What's you goal for the race?

Nothing exciting around here this evening... making meatloaf for dinner because that's my husbands favorite :)

  10. I love pink and flowers and chocolate so idk why I am so over valentines day! I'm just excited for our real celebration - a Nicholas Sparks movie and probably wine and froyo. By "our" of course I mean by Besties and me. Valentines day is so much better with girls.
